Water Access for All: Transforming Lives Through Safe, Accessible Water

High in the lush rainforests of Mount Kilimanjaro, Shimbwe Ward is blessed with abundant natural water sources. Yet this very blessing became a burden for families, especially women and girls, who faced treacherous daily journeys through mountain terrain to access the water flowing all around them. Our infrastructure project harnesses this natural abundance, bringing mountain water directly to homes and eliminating the dangerous collection burden that kept girls from school and women from economic participation.

Shimbwe Ward sits nestled in the verdant rainforests that cloak Mount Kilimanjaro's slopes. Water cascades through mountain streams, pools in natural springs, and flows abundantly through the lush landscape. Yet this geographical blessing created unique challenges:

By listening, engaging, and understanding exactly what was needed to empower educators in Haiti, we were able to equip 48 teachers with the necessary skills to use in the classroom.
