The Shimbwe Development Trust is a non-profit organisation working to alleviate the burden of poverty and disease for the residents of Shimbwe Ward. Nestled on the flanks of majestic Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, East Africa.

Education

Founded in 1998, the Shimbwe Secondary School improved access to education for the people of its ward in a significant way. Until then, there had been no secondary school in the area.

Water

60% coverage already achieved through building multiple intakes, water tanks and pressure releasing points. Already this new access has seen an improvement in quality of life as well as fewer cases of dangerous parasitic infestation.
